ECO PRINTING

Eco printing is creatively attributed to Australian artist India Flint. Due to it’s organic processes it can be intriguing and mysterious. Many accomplished artists are exploring the wonders of eco printing /dyeing and applying them in bookmaking, fiber arts, encaustics, wearable art and printing.

Eco printing / dyeing is the contemporary application of traditional natural dyeing. Taking plant materials {leaves, petals, roots, etc} and bundling or stacking them in layers and steaming them in a hot soupy mixture to extract the organic pigments.

During the weekend, we will literally be foraging on Transfiguration’s campus and using Nature’s bounty of leaves, flowers and even vegetables and then “cooking” them in a “soup” of metals and other mordants to make beautifully natural contact prints on paper.

But wait there’s more – we’ll enhance those prints with Gel Press™, StencilGirl Products, Silk Road Textiles, Golden Artist products and a few surprises we’re currently under development.

Each year we are wowed by Jacqueline -and- Mother Nature as we dye, print and design one-of-a-kind works of art. You won’t be disappointed.
