craftivism is powered by community
The intersection of craft and activism is having a moment (again). It’s never been a more important time for creative resistance. The challenges are real and it is now our time in history to show up do what we can and speak and act a compassionate future into being.
Take your stitching from the hoop to the hanger!
Enjoy inspiration from and co-create alongside:
Angie Holycross | The Savage Stitcher: free-hand or water-soluble stabilizer patterns with a feminist sweary flare
Tasha Moon | Floss & Flourish: bedazzle with embroidery floss & glass beads, alphabet letters & more!
Bethany Thompkins | Silly Sewing Goose: choose 1 word for Bethany to hand-crank chain stitch (additional words for a fee)
Glenda Miles | Creative Communion: customize using vintage stamps, themed SGP stencils & hand lettering with textile paints, fabric markers & non-aerosol spray paints
Special feature of the gathering! The use of resistance themed artist designed stencils from Stencil Girl Products!
We're not sewing/constructing garments - we're decorating our own personal clothing and/or accessories. This is a low-buy gathering where you can "shop at home" or thrift for ideal items such as denim jacket/jeans, cotton shirts, tote bags, backpacks, tshirts, sweatshirts, etc. For the most success avoid fabrics with high synthetic contents (like 100% polyester or nylon), highly textured weaves (like faux fur or terrycloth), and heavily stretchy materials.

want to see!
Co-creating for a cause is a timeless form of resistance against systemic oppression and unjust authoritarianism. And it’s a darn good way to use our hands and hearts versus social media doom-scrolling.
