During this 2 day mini retreat, we will start Friday night as Mary Beth often does, with the making of parts - except this time the parts will explore transparency and opacity with inks and paints on a variety of surfaces. We will use tissue, Duralar and contact paper, sometimes working from both the front and back sides to obtain more depth. We will also focus on mark making. These parts will have a chance to dry overnight on Friday.
On Saturday, Mary Beth will offer prompts to encourage free writing which will help us each uncover our individual mantra. This mantra will be illustrated in a variety of ways throughout our paintings as we layer collage with our prepared parts. We will finalize our paintings with stamps and stencils and more transparent and opaque layers.
You may work within your journal or on a separate substrate no larger than 12x12. Mary Beth will be working back and forth between her journal and a couple smaller wood substrates.
Supplies:
There is a $20 fee payable that day to Mary Beth which covers generous supply of artist grade paints, inks, papers, stencils, stamps, ink pads, embossing powders, markers and other tools we will use.
